17th August :  The Govt. of India virtually bowed as waves of Anna Hazara’s Supporters laid sledge to the city of New Delhi. They thronged key points of the capital, including Tihar Jail where Anna is still lodged.

The Czech Republic’s top scorer Jan Koller retired from football. The 38 year old striker retired from international football in 2009 but continued playing for French third division side AS Cannes. The 2.02 meter striker is his country’s all time leading scorer with 55 goals form 91 international games.

18th August : Libyan rebels took control of an oil refinery in the Western Town of Zawiyah south of the capital further isolating Muammar Gaddafi’s Tripoli strong hold. Rebel advances in recent days have cut off Gaddafi’s forces from their main international resupply routes following a month’s long stalemate.
